We're hiring an Accounting & Payroll Support professional to support our existing bookkeeper with day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role focused on data entry, reconciliation, and verification across time tracking, payroll preparation, supplier invoices, and internal systems. You'll follow defined processes and flag discrepancies rather than making assumptions. This role is based out of our Crossfield office and works closely with bookkeeping, operations, and management.


Key Responsibilities

Time tracking & labour auditing

  • Review, audit, and validate employee time records across payroll periods
  • Cross-check time entries against schedules, site assignments, and approval rules
  • Identify missing punches/anomalies and flag for correction
  • Prepare cleaned/verified datasets for payroll processing

Payroll preparation support

  • Assist with payroll data preparation in Sage 50 (Simply Accounting)
  • Support payroll runs across multiple entities and pay cycles
  • Verify hours, rates, job coding, and cost allocation prior to submission
  • Maintain payroll support documentation and audit trails

Accounts payable & invoice verification

  • Review supplier invoices for accuracy and completeness
  • Cross-reference what was ordered, delivered vs invoiced
  • Validate invoices against Hyphen Solutions (SupplyPro), delivery records, and purchase documentation
  • Flag discrepancies for follow-up before posting

Accounting data entry & record maintenance

  • Perform accurate data entry into Sage 50
  • Maintain organized digital and physical records
  • Assist with reconciliations and internal reporting support as required

Process support & improvement

  • Follow established procedures consistently
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate with clear notes
  • Assist in improving documentation, checklists, and repeatable workflows

Qualifications

  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or payroll administration
  • Strong attention to detail; comfortable with repetitive, accuracy-critical work
  • Proficient with Excel and basic office software
  • Experience with time-tracking systems and payroll preparation
  • Construction/manufacturing/trade-business experience
  • Familiarity with Hyphen Solutions/SupplyPro
  • Exposure to job costing or labour cost allocation
  • Experience supporting audits or internal controls
  • High accountability and follow-through
  • Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) experience strongly preferred
  • Must be available from 8 AM to 5 PM MST. 

Pay & Benefits

  • This role is not a controller/accounting manager position and is not a strategic finance role.
