Framerz Inc. currently has an active safety program and Site Safety Officer in place. This role is intended to supplement and strengthen our site-level safety presence by adding a dedicated, field-based Site Safety Officer (NCSO) who works directly with crews, foremen, and operations.
This position is hands-on and site-focused. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time on active framing sites, identifying high-risk activities, supporting foremen, reinforcing expectations, and ensuring safety systems are executed properly in the field.
This is not a desk-based or purely administrative role. The ideal candidate understands the realities of wood framing and mid-rise construction and can balance regulatory requirements with what is realistic and effective on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a site-based safety presence across multiple active framing projects
- Work directly with Site Foremen and crews to identify high-risk tasks and reinforce safe work practices
- Conduct regular site inspections focused on real risk reduction (falls, access, material handling, sequencing, housekeeping, etc.)
- Support the execution of hazard assessments, toolbox talks, inspections, and training using SiteDocs
- Ensure safety documentation is completed accurately and consistently without overburdening site teams
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations and follow-up corrective actions
- Track and escalate recurring safety issues or trends to Operations and management
- Support orientation, SWPs, JHAs, and site-specific safety planning
- Reinforce accountability at the site level while maintaining a collaborative, respectful approach
- Work alongside existing safety personnel and Operations to strengthen overall site compliance
- Use technology and digital tools to improve reporting, tracking, and communication
Qualifications
- NCSO designation (or actively working toward certification)
- 3 to 5 or more years of construction safety experience in Calgary or Alberta
- Trade background in carpentry, framing, or site supervision
- Experience working on multi-site operations
- Exposure to prefab or panelized construction environments
- Direct experience on wood framing, rough carpentry, residential, or mid-rise sites
- Strong understanding of framing sequencing, access, fall protection, and material handling
- Working knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and COR requirements
- Experience using SiteDocs or similar digital safety platforms
- Comfortable using Microsoft tools (Excel, Teams, SharePoint) for reporting and tracking
- Willingness to adopt technology and streamlined processes to reduce administrative burden
- Comfortable working directly with foremen and site crews
- Practical, solutions-oriented approach to safety
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites
Pay & Benefits
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Pay CA$60,000 to CA$80,000 per year, based on experience
- Vehicle/km allowance
